Kurrajong - the land of fast flowing trails for all skill levels.
Kurrajong contains a series of fast flowing single track trails. Trails 16 (Plantation) and 17 (Lumberjack) are classified as Green (Easy) and trails 14 (Junction) and 15 (Chainsaw) are graded Blue (More Difficult). Note that the middle rock garden section of Junction Track has been upgraded to Black as a result of a review undertaken during the storm recovery works of 2011. The remainder of the trail is Blue.Trail 14 (Junction Track) joins the Stockyards and Kurrajong MTB areas.
The You Yangs can generally be ridden year round and the trails tend to shed water pretty well though some of the southern sections of the Kurrajong area do not drain as well (particularly Lumberjack Track). Parks Victoria has sensibly implemented a policy of closing the mountain bike trails when there has been heavy rain. To check whether trail are closed, you can check the Parks Victoria mountain bike website page here under the "Change of Conditions".
The Kurrajong area is a great area for night riding due to the fast flowing single trails. Access the trails from the Sandy Creek Road car park where there is a night entrance into the park or from the main gate heading up to the rangers building and picking the trails up there.
